COVID-19 Repatriation Flights

Important information:

  • Please stay in touch with your country’s embassy or consulate for the latest flight information 
  • If you do not have a confirmed international ticket, please stay in self-isolation; do not go to Auckland Airport 
  • If you have COVID-19 or symptoms consistent with COVID-19, remain in self-isolation; do not go to Auckland Airport. Contact Healthline on 0800 358 5453 and advise your embassy or consulate that you will be unable to travel   

 Getting to the airport: 

  • If you’re travelling to the airport from Auckland, the airport can be accessed by the 380 bus which departs from Onehunga and Manukau, taxi or private car.  The SkyBus isn’t currently operating 
  • If you’re travelling to Auckland Airport from another centre, the international terminal is a short walk from the domestic terminal 

 Accommodation: 

  • If you require overnight accommodation prior to your flight, there are a number of hotels close to the airport:  
  • Heartland Hotel: 09 275 4540 
  • Holiday Inn: 09 275 2095 
  • Naumi Hotel: 09 912 3333 
  • If you are traveling in a campervan and need accommodation prior to your flight, call Auckland Council on 09 301 0101 to arrange a site at Ambury Regional Park in Mangere. The park is for self-contained vehicles only and can accommodate stays of up to two nights 

 Rented & owned vehicles: 

  • If you have a rental vehicle, please ensure you return it in line with the process set out by the rental company. If you are unable to do so, a temporary drop-off point has been set up. Follow the signs for this at the airport and return the keys to airport staff 
  • Owned vehicles should not be dumped; these can be left at the designated drop off point/staging area and the keys left with attendants 

 Arriving at the airport: 

  • Those with confirmed international tickets should arrive no more than five hours prior to the scheduled departure of their flight 
  • Only those with valid travel documents and a confirmed international ticket for that day will be allowed entry to Auckland Airport 

 Check-in: 

  • Health checks will be carried out on all passengers prior to check in. Anyone who fails a health check will need to be tested at the nearby quarantine facility. If the test is positive for COVID-19, the individual will be held at the quarantine facility and won’t be allowed to travel 
  • In order to maintain physical distance, there may be long queues at the airport. It is recommended that you bring a warm item of clothing in your hand luggage in case you are required to queue outside 

 Airport facilities: 

  • There are limited facilities at Auckland Airport. Pre-packaged food and drink, as well as some over-the-counter pharmacy products are available at the airport, but it is recommended that you ensure you have everything you need prior to arriving at the airport
