A Business Support Helpline has been set up by the Employers and Manufacturers Association (EMA) for business owners who have been affected by the severe weather conditions. Access specific advice and information for businesses covering such issues as staff leave, paying employees, insurance and more. Call 0800 500 362.
Update from Auckland Business Chamber 10 Mar: There has been a strong response to the Back to Work grant, with over 3000 applications submitted. Regrettably, due to the limited availability of funds, the program has been suspended as of 3:30pm Thurs, 9 Mar and applicants are now invited to join a waitlist. Back to Work grants focus on supporting businesses at high risk of closure, or those that have experienced significant operational impacts. Designed to help small businesses get back on their feet sooner and stronger, businesses can apply for grants ranging from $750 to $5,000, subject to eligibility criteria.

To support small business owners experiencing challenges in the aftermath of recent weather events, the Activate Tāmaki Makaurau Business Community has ben reopened.
Small businesses can join this online community to access resources, support and advice, including regular updates on grants and relief programmes. A range of events, webinars, workshops and other initiatives are also available to help small business get the most out of the available business support, for a quicker recovery.

Need help to keep up with their tax obligations, including filing and paying on time? Visit IRD website.
Contact Inland Revenue directly or through your tax agent through a dedicated flood number 0800 473 566 specifically for those impacted by flooding. myIR messages are being prioritised if “Flood” is in the subject line. They may be able to remove late payment and filing penalties, and write off tax, penalties and interest if collecting it would put you in serious hardship.
