TRANSPORT, TRAFFIC & TRAVEL

There are a number of road closures in place and some impacts on public transport. Please take care when driving in more remote areas around the region.

Western beach communities

• At the request of local residents, Piha Road is closed to everyone other than residents and emergency services by a security-controlled cordon.
• Bethells Road, from the Bethells Road/Te Henga Road intersection, is closed to everyone other than residents and emergency services. Public access to Bethells Beach is temporarily closed to the public as it is deemed unsafe.
• Access to Muriwai Beach is also closed, with no access at Wilson Road and Coast Road.  

Please do not attempt to travel through closed sections of the roads. This can cause further damage and risk to your safety and the safety of others. Sightseeing is discouraged especially in Resident-only access areas. This puts already vulnerable roads under stress and causes safety risks. Access is only for those who live in these areas.

Despite an improvement in weather conditions Auckland Transport is encouraging Aucklanders to take care when travelling on the transport network. Most services are operating. Please check Journey Planner or Live Departures and plan your travel accordingly.
